Moving home is one of the most complex things a family goes through: packing, scheduling, days off work, and the worry that something will break along the way. At ExpressMoving we've built a clear, organized process so you always know what's happening and can focus on your new home.
In this guide we'll walk you through how an apartment move works with us, step by step, and share a few tips that will save you time, money and stress.
How we work
-
Intro call and quote
Tell us where you are moving from and to, how many rooms you have, which floor, whether there is an elevator, and any special items (large fridge, corner sofa, piano, safe). You can also send photos or a short video on WhatsApp. The quote is free and with no obligation.
-
Planning and scheduling
We set a date and time, match the truck size and crew to the amount of furniture, and check access at both addresses: truck parking, stairwell width, elevator size and whether a crane is needed.
-
Packing and disassembly
Pack yourself or use our professional packing service. Large furniture such as wardrobes and beds is taken apart in advance, and screws are kept in a labeled bag so reassembly is quick.
-
Moving day - loading
The crew arrives on time. Every piece of furniture is wrapped in moving blankets and stretch film, doorways are protected, and the truck is loaded in order: heavy, stable items at the bottom, fragile items on top, and everything strapped so nothing shifts on the road.
-
The drive
The truck drives straight to your new address. You can go ahead of us and get ready to receive everything at the new home.
-
Unloading and assembly
Every box and piece of furniture goes into its room according to the labels. We reassemble what we took apart, and at the end we walk through with you to make sure everything arrived and is in place.
Our tips
- Start packing things you don't use every day about two weeks before the move.
- Label every box with its room and contents - it saves hours when unpacking.
- Sort and donate what you don't need. Less stuff = a faster, cheaper move.
- Defrost and clean the fridge and freezer the day before.
- Keep a personal bag with documents, medicine, chargers and jewelry that travels with you.
- Take photos of the TV and computer cables before unplugging them.
- Check truck parking at both addresses and book the elevator with the building committee.
- Prepare an "open first" box with a kettle, cups, toilet paper and bed sheets.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an apartment move take?
It depends on the amount of furniture, floors, elevator and distance. We give you a time estimate with the quote so you can plan your day.
What does the price depend on?
The amount of furniture, floors and elevator access, the distance between addresses, and extras such as assembly, packing or a crane. No surprises - everything is agreed in advance.
How far ahead should I book?
We recommend one to two weeks ahead, especially at the end of the month and in summer, which are busy. We're available 24/7, so it's worth calling even at short notice.
Do you take apart and assemble furniture?
Yes. See our prices on the Assembly & Disassembly page.
